Hi! My name is Burpee the Aristocrat Cooker!
#4534876 - 08/15/05 02:13 AM (15 years, 3 months ago)

'I have traveled the lands far and wide touring the countryside. I was born sometime.....probably before Jesus and have served in households both large and small. You people in modern time may know me as a Pressure Cooker. But for those who grew up around me, I was Burpee the Aristocrat Cooker (seriously people, its on my lid.) Well I have been sitting on the ground outside for quite some time now until I summoned the Power of the Shroom to find me a new owner.....and here he is now.'
LOL. Hey everybody. How do you like this hunka junk???? I bought it for only ten smackers. It looks like its about a 15-20 quart. I gave her a test run and she works like a beauty. I bought it from one of those junk dealers are a flea market. It was just sitting on the ground in the middle of the isle. I actually kicked it while walking by, which is how I noticed it.
The reason I am posting this is to let people know that you can find what you need if you just look hard enough. Sure it may be older than you mom, but I she still has some juice left in her for my application.
The only problem though is that the wire frame inside that holds the jars up is pure rust. I scraped as much as I can, but its still pretty curoded (sp?) Think that will make a difference?
Anyway, keep your eyes peeled. You never know what you might find.

Yes it has a rubber seal in GREAT condition.
It doesn't have a standoff PLATE, but it does have that rusted wire holder that I was talking about that keeps the jars elevated off the bottom.

Then, I would care for that rubber seal, as if it were the only WINNING MEGA-BUCKS ticket in a 300 million dollar lottery.
As, a new ice age would cover Jamaica - before you could find a replacement.

HEY!
See the further one away I liked that pressure cooker, got mine for 30 of ebay..the one closer for 20. It should hold 10 quart jars (3 on their side up top)..its a 20-22 quart wet I think. Just dont fall asleep and let it run dry! Takes about 6 hours...but my seal no longer works on that one because of it...rust is no problem either.

LOL! BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its like that damn verison wireless commecial ('Searching for signal....') Anyway....awesome. That couldn't be more ironic.
What do you mean about 6 hours though? You mean it takes 6 hours for the water to run dry or it takes 6 hours as compared to the 90 minutes to completely sterilize.....?
If it takes six hours, I'd wind up smoking a bowl and DEFINATELY forgetting about it.
THanks!

I think Scat means after 6 hours of PC'ing, you could suffer some gasket damage.

Yeah, I left it running for probably 8 hours when I fell asleep, and it had ran dry and burnt all of everything..it even MELTED the tyvek GONE from the tops of the jars..completly gone...
Once I fell asleep with it on before that, ran for probably 6 hours, or just under..still had not run dry yet though..and everything was fine..grains a little darker, but worked fine. Thats whats good about PCs with a release switch like that, instead of a rocker..they hardly put out any steam.

OOOOOH I get ya. LOL. I shall make a mental note of never to fall asleep. Although Im sure you didnt mean to either..... lol.
Probably my first few times sterilizing I am going to be standing next to it staring at it, waiting for the time to pass.

The Viking Pressure Cooker is intended for home use only. Only a person familiar with the pressure cooker’s usage and guidelines should be in control of the pressure cooker at any given time. Page 5: Before Using Your Pressure Cooker For The First Time 23. Keep the pressure cooker dry after cleaning. Always use genuine Viking replacement. Before Viking, home chefs had no options. With Viking, there is no other option. Over the past 30 years Viking has become synonymous with the epicurean lifestyle, developing professionally styled and featured products for every major appliance category. Jul 20, 2016 Viking Stovetop Pressure Cooker Review All these years, I've been afraid to purchase a stovetop pressure cooker, mainly from reading articles decades ago of exploding stew or beans. It wasn't until last year that I found out my Mom relies on her stovetop pressure cooker for making Chinese soups and beef & daikon stews. Even after gifting.
