Mac 32 64 Bit Globalprotect Agent

Open your browser and sign into the GlobalProtect portal by entering your username and password. Head to the software download page and click on the “Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent” link. Execute the GlobalProtect installer and click Continue. Once the “Destination Select” screen appears, click Continue once again. Click Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent hyperlink. After downloading, go to downloads at the bottom right-hand corner, and double click on GlobalProtect.pkg to start the installation. Click Continue on the Install GlobalProtect Installer. Click Continue on Custom Install on ‘System.” 7. Click Install on Standard Install. Choose Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent. Once the file has been downloaded, double click the package. The Installer will open. Click the GlobalProtect Agent download button at the top of the screen to open the client download window. Click the Mac 32/64-bit download option. The Finder window will open, check to make sure the save location is correct. In the save location, open GlobalProtect.pkg; The GlobalProtect Installer will open, click Continue. Click on Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent. This will download a file named GlobalProtect.pkg; double click the file to begin downloading. Select “Continue” to proceed through the installation. You may need to approve kernel extensions in order for the GlobalProtect VPN client to function normally.

This document describes how to download and install the WiscVPN GlobalProtect VPN client on a Mac computer. GlobalProtect supports Mac 32/64 bit Operating Systems.

Note: The newest client (5.1) is not compatible with OS X 10.10 or earlier. Please see Where Can I Download and Install the GlobalProtect App? for more information.

Download the Client

Installing the GlobalProtect Client (Mac)

  1. Open the downloaded file. Proceed through the installation process, you will need to click continue, then continue, then install.
  2. Some users will be prompted with a message saying 'System Extension Blocked.' In this case, select Open Security Preferences then select Allow in the following window.
  3. If you are prompted for your password, type it in. It will look like the image below once you have typed in your password. Then select install software.

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://uavpn.albany.edu.
  2. Log in with your University at Albany NetID and password.
  3. Download the appropriate GlobalProtect client for your operating system (Mac 32/64-bit GlobalProtect Agent).
  4. Run the GlobalProtect setup application (GlobalProtect.pkg) and click Continue to begin.
  5. Click Continue to install the GlobalProtect client.
  6. Click Install to proceed with the the installation.
  7. Enter password when and click Install Software when prompted.
  8. IMPORTANTon OS X 10.13 +, due to a new security feature introduced by Apple, BEFORE using GlobalProtect, go to Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Security & Privacy and click 'Allow' the software from Palo Alto Networks to run.

    This must be performed within 30 minutes of completing the installation and before running the application to connect.

  9. A GlobalProtect window should appear in the upper-right menu bar. If not, click the icon that appears to resemble a Globe. Enter the portal address uavpn.albany.edu
  10. Sign in with your University at Albany NetID and password.
  11. You should see a GlobalProtect window stating that you are now connected
  1. Select the GlobalProtect icon in the notification area at the upper right to bring up the VPN connection window.
  2. Click Disconnect to end the VPN session.
  1. To open the GlobalProtect VPN client:
    1. option 1: In Applications, double-click GlobalProtect
    2. option 2: Press cmd+space and type 'Global Protect' and press Enter
  2. When prompted, enter your NetID and password, and click Connect.
  3. The GlobalProtect icon will be minimized in the menu bar in the upper right.
